Combination of Animated-Style and RTS! ‘GRAND CROSS: AGE OF TITANS’ Review (2)
Heroes and Units, And The Ultimate Weapon ‘Titan'
Grand Cross refers to a phenomenon where the sky cracks open to connect different dimensions.
As it happens, two high school students, Eugene and Mio, are summoned from the real world to another world called "Skyna", where they embark on a journey to save the kingdom together with the Saviors.
During this rebuilding process, they engage in territory management and warfare.
The territories are shrouded in fog, which can be gradually cleared by clearing story chapters.
Players must construct various buildings within the fog-gree territories in three categories; units, resources, and decoration to develop and advance their territories.
My own territory
The territories in 'Grand Cross: Age of Titans' are characterized by charming visuals.
At first glance, it may appear to be a SNG genre game that emphasizes healing and is distant from warfare, based on its outward appearance.
Additionally, one of the appealing points is that the concept of territories can be changed to various styles such as a rustic countryside or a snowy village.
Territories of various concepts
To protect their territories, players must be prepared for warfare.
To do so, it is necessary to train various types of military units.
In Grand Cross, there are various types of military units available, including infantry, archers, cavalry, aerial bombers, catapults, warships, and the iconic ultimate weapon known as the 'Titan', which can be considered the game's identity.
From top to bottom, Archers, Infantry, Cavalry
We will provide a more detailed explanation about regular infantry, special infantry, and Titans.
The regular infantry will excel as all-rounders in every battle. The combination with heroes who command them is also crucial. Each hero has a specialized unit type.
When there is a clash between the same unit types, having a suitable commander can give an advantage in the battle.
Each unit type can be upgraded, and the higher the upgrade level, the stronger it becomes.
Special units can achieve significant effects when they are appropriately utilized in various battlefield environments.
The battles in “Grand Cross: Age of Titans” don’t just take place in open areas.
Even in ground combat, there are various factors such as fields, mountains, hills, and rivers that
impose movement restrictions.
In addition to ground combat, aerial and naval battles also take place. Special units like bombers, catapults, and warships are good cards that can overcome these elements.
Players can defend against enemies attacking from the water with their ships, and break through obstructing structures using catapults.
The Special Unit Types
The last one is The Ultimate Weapon 'Titan'
The ‘Titan’ possesses significantly higher attack power and durability compared to regular units.
The Titan’s immense power can potentially turn the tide of battle, depending on its strategic utilization.
Titans are divided into two categories: individually-owned Titans and alliance-owned Titans.
Since mass production is impossible, it is essential to devise appropriate strategies for their utilization.
