On March 19th, Netmarble unveiled a media showcase for the new action RPG, ‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’.

This title is the first adaptation utilizing the 'Solo Leveling' IP, aiming to immerse players with its high-quality rendition of the original work.

Players can look forward to creating their own action style by utilizing various skills and weapons, ensuring an enjoyable experience.

‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’ is a single-player action RPG where players assume the role of the protagonist from the original series, ‘Sung Jinwoo’, as he conquers gates. 

Its notable features include a high-quality adaptation of the original webtoon and stylish combat actions.

Players experience the storyline of the original work by becoming ‘Sung Jinwoo’, the only being in the world who levels up, becomes a powerful hunter, and awakens as ‘The Monarch of Shadows’.

Upon entering the showcase hall, we were able to briefly glimpse the contents of 'Solo Leveling:ARISE' through the large-screen video.
For fans who had followed Sung Jinwoo’s journey to becoming the strongest hunter through the webtoon, there must have been a sense of anticipation.

Not only fans of ‘Solo Leveling’, but also enthusiasts of thrilling action games, found themselves thrilled by the upcoming revelations. 

So, let's delve into each piece of prepared information.

We had the opportunity to learn about how they implemented the original work into the game through interviews with developers from ‘Netmarble Neo’ and representatives from ‘D&C Media’.

Subsequently, Netmarble conducted an in-depth session with  ‘Junesung Kim’, Executive Director at ‘Netmarble Neo’, to delve deeper into ‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’.

During this session, players discovered four key points that were emphasized to enhance the gaming experience.

Producing a 3D adaptation from a 2D webtoon

A legendary webtoon now comes to the game

Given that the original work was a 2D webtoon, ‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’ aimed to preserve its essence while enhancing immersion by integrating animated movements into webtoon-based images when delivering the storyline in the game.

Furthermore, ‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’ utilized cartoon rendering techniques and cinematic engine technology to breathe life into iconic scenes from the 2D webtoon in vivid 3D, providing players with a fresh perspective they couldn't experience in the original work. 

This allowed us to expand the world of ‘Solo Leveling’ by including stories of hunters that were not present in the original.

Combat and action play pivotal roles in 'Solo Leveling:Arise'.

To deliver top-notch action controls across both mobile and PC platforms, 'Solo Leveling: Arise' focused on two key points : ensuring immersive enjoyment and providing excellent controls.

Equipping Runes to Complete Your Own Skill Combination

Two key points include the ever-changing combat style based on weapons and runes, and the precise timing required for executing daring maneuvers.

Firstly, videos provided a glimpse of the evolving combat styles based on weapons and runes. 

We could compare ‘Sung Jinwoo’ wielding ‘Kim Sangshik's Steel Sword’ in the early stages of the original work, contrasting with ‘Sung Jinwoo’ wielding the 'Knight Killer' obtained during his growth process.

Similarly, to ‘Sung Jinwoo’ absorbing runes to acquire skills in the original, players in the game can enjoy diverse movements and unique effects by equipping various runes to skills, enhancing their combat abilities.

Next are 'Extreme Evasion' and 'QTE Skills'.

In 'Solo Leveling: Arise', players can execute an 'Extreme Evasion' when facing incoming enemy attacks.

While in this state, players can utilize 'Shadow Step' to move behind the enemy and initiate a counterattack.
Furthermore, players can execute combos using different 'QTE Skills' that are available only in specific situations."

The Monarch leading the Army of Shadows

Summoning your very own Army of Shadows

In this segment, an introduction to the Army of Shadows and the Hunters fighting alongside ‘Sung Jinwoo’ was provided. 

We had the opportunity to relive one of the most epic scenes from the original work through a video: the intense battle with the Job Change Quest, ‘Igris’.

After emerging victorious in combat against ‘Igris’ and completing the Job Change Quest, players ascend to the position of the king of Necromancer, commanding the undead as the 'The Monarch of Shadows.'

As ‘The Monarch of Shadows’, players can utter the iconic phrase "Rise", welcoming ‘Igris’ as a member of the Army of Shadows.

Players can also summon various shadows exclusive to the game, assembling them into their own Army to fight alongside them, adding a unique dimension to battles.

Moreover, players can enjoy the excitement of tag action by controlling and switching between individual hunters one by one during battles, not just ‘Sung Jinwoo’

Unconventional Dungeon Strategy

A new battlefield every moment

The final key point is the content. ‘Solo Leveling:Arise’ faithfully recreates the locations where ‘Sung Jinwoo’ continuously grew, the gates. (Just like in the original web novel) Various content is available, ranging from ‘Standard Gates’ to ‘The Red Gates’ where players traverse wide fields while dispelling debuffs. 
Additionally, there's competitive time attack content called 'Battlefield of Time' where players compare clear records.

The next item on the agenda was the presentation of the business strategy for 'Solo Leveling:Arise'

The first game based on the ‘Solo Leveling’ IP

The webtoon 'Solo Leveling' has ranked first on major webtoon platforms worldwide, and the animated series based on it, which started airing from January this year, has also achieved top ranks on leading OTT platforms worldwide.

Leveraging this IP, Netmarble is in the process of preparing the first-ever game adaptation.

Pre-registration has begun through platforms such as Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and the official brand website. 

Upon pre-registration, rewards such as ‘Sung Jinwoo's Chic Black Suit Costume’, ‘Legendary Artifact Sets’, and  Jinwoo's cherished partner/hunter, ‘Yoo Jinho’ will be provided.

Early Access will commence on March 21st in Thailand and Canada, with plans for a global official release in May.

Major story content updates will occur, with original stories introduced to provide ongoing entertainment.

Additionally, various events are planned to encourage direct participation, communication.
