[Congratulations! You have now become a player.]

Just reading this phrase fills our hearts with excitement.

‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’ is a globally beloved webtoon based on a web novel, with over 14.3 billion views worldwide

Let's meet the team and peek into the development process in the Behind-the-Scenes of 'Solo Leveling:ARISE', a creation based on the 'Solo Leveling' Webtoon.

To gamify 'Solo Leveling’, Netmarble worked closely with 'D&C Media', which owns the original IP.
Netmarble made significant efforts to inherit the original while also adding various elements of fun.

<Solo Leveling:ARISE> Art Team Lead  ‘Kim Inho’

In this Behind-the-Scenes of Development, ‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’, Art Team Lead, Original Character Art Lead, and Character Modeling Lead shared fascinating stories about various characters.

Ep. 1 Character

‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’ focused on capturing the look of the original with a Cel shading style while reimagining them with detailed designs to make the characters look more appealing.

Through a reinterpretation of design, the primary focus laid in accentuating the individual charm of each character, while simultaneously dedicating meticulous efforts to craft designs that deeply immerse players in the game with intense concentration.

In the Behind-the-Scenes of Development story, the first protagonist highlighted was ‘Sung Jinwoo’.

The first protagonist, ‘Sung Jinwoo’, was introduced by ‘Kang Seungjin’, ‘Solo Leveling:ARISE’ Original Character Art Lead.

‘Sung Jinwoo’, the main character of ‘Solo Leveling’, is a character who starts from E-Rank and gradually grows stronger as he levels up.

E-Rank ‘Sung Jinwoo’ was designed to embody a feeble impression fitting his nickname as ‘The Weakest Hunter of All Mankind’, utilizing designs such as ‘worn out knee pads’ and a ‘Bandage’ to accentuate this portrayal.

Afterward, as ‘Sung Jinwoo’ grows and becomes stronger - In the original work, during this period, there are significant changes in Sung Jinwoo's appearance.

Art team’s goal was to design ‘Sung Jinwoo’ with a sharp profile and features that would clearly differentiate him from his previous image as ‘The Weakest Hunter of All Mankind’.

Furthermore, Sung Jinwoo's current outfit is from the original work and they reinterpreted it so that he can fight in style.

The stronger ‘Sung Jinwoo’ was designed wielding 'Kasaka's Venom Fang' and 'Night Killer' instead of the broken sword.

Additionally, the depiction of Sung Jinwoo's transformation into the 'The Monarch of Shadows' will be unveiled through future releases.

Cha Hae-In

The next character featured in the 'Behind-the-Scenes of Development' is ‘Cha Hae-In’.

‘Cha Hae-In’ appears in the original work as the only female S-rank hunter in Korea, and her combat style is described as resembling a dance, earning her the nickname 'The Dancer’.

She was designed with a uniform-like suit design that brings out an elegant yet powerful image, befitting her nickname, ‘The Dancer’.

In addition, they added gold details to her armor and weapons to bring out Cha Hae-In's gorgeous yet controlled charm.

The design process for ‘Cha Hae-In’ faced numerous challenges, but the anticipation for her in-game appearance is incredibly high.

The next character introduced by Character Modeling Lead, ‘Lee Jonghae’, is ‘Baek Yoonho’.

‘Baek Yoonho’, the master of the Baekho Guild, possesses a unique ability to transform into a beast.

They designed him in a way that would clearly differentiate the visuals between his human and beast forms.

Baek Yoonho's fighting styles are as different as his appearances.

His human form uses an authentic martial arts technique using his gauntlets, and after transformation, his attack technique is differentiated by slashing like an animal using his huge claws.

While preserving the concept of the original ‘Baek Yoonho’ as much as possible, they prepared a reinterpretation that allows players to enjoy two distinct forms.

Last character is ‘The Giant Statue of the Cartenon Temple’.

Since the statue is an important and powerful character early on in the story, they focused on conveying the emotions of the original work.

They believed that the scene where the Giant Statue's holy atmosphere changes to despair and it smiles evilly is a very important scene.

To express this, they concluded that 2D representation would be more suitable than 3D modeling.

For this reason, they opted for Spine to bring it closer to the horror atmosphere of the original work. The statue's details were further enhanced during the design process of the game.

In addition to trying to create a texture similar to a real statue, they also tried to create natural movement while providing a sense of massiveness and weight to create a feeling of despair.

In addition to the characters mentioned above, they have prepared a diverse array of unique hunters and monsters such as ‘Choi Jong-In’, ‘Min Byung-Gu’, ‘Igris’, ‘Kargalgan’, and more.
