Meanwhile, mobile pre-downloads, available just one day before launch, drove the game to No. 1 on the Apple App Store charts in key regions, including Korea, Japan, the United States, and Taiwan.

Already capturing the attention of players around the world, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is shaping up to be a standout new adventure. Let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer.

A Multiverse Original Story
Blending Nostalgia and Freshness

Based on the globally beloved manga 「The Seven Deadly Sins」, which has surpassed 55 million copies in worldwide sales, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is an Anime open-world RPG set in the same iconic universe. The core gameplay follows a main quest-driven structure while also allowing players to freely explore a vast open world and engage in a wide range of activities, including side quests, combat, creature capturing, cooking, fishing, and puzzle-solving.

This marks Netmarble F&C’s third game based on The Seven Deadly Sins IP. While previous titles focused on faithfully recreating the original story, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin takes a new approach, telling an original story shaped by the studio’s deep understanding of the source material, its strong affinity for the IP, and close collaboration with the original creator.

At the center of the story are Tristan and Tioreh. Both characters appear in the sequel series Four Knights of the Apocalypse and are also the children of key figures from the original story. The game is set in the time period between 「The Seven Deadly Sins」 and「Four Knights of the Apocalypse」.

The game begins with Tristan and Tioreh conversing beside a dried-up lake. Tristan explains to Tioreh why the lake has dried up, referencing the legendary battle between Escanor from 「The Seven Deadly Sins」and Estarossa.

While exploring the area around the lake, Tristan and Tioreh discover an artifact known as the『Book of Stars』which causes the past, present, and future to intertwine. That said, players don’t need to be familiar with the original series to fully enjoy The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin. As mentioned earlier, the game’s timeline and narrative differ from the source material. Key connections to the original story are introduced clearly throughout the game, making them easy to understand as players progress.

Throughout the adventure, players will encounter original characters created exclusively for this game, new faces even longtime fans will be meeting for the first time. As these characters intertwine with Tristan and Tioreh, the story unfolds in fresh and unexpected ways, sparking curiosity and excitement for players of all backgrounds.

In short, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin stays true to the core elements of the original world, such as the continent of Britannia and its iconic characters, while introducing new ideas that help shape a unique and distinct experience.

Britannia: A Beautiful,
Immersive World Full of Things to Do

The continent of Britannia, the game’s primary setting, is brought to life as a visually stunning open world. The 3D visuals are highly polished, and the environment is rich in detail, with distinctive design elements found across towns, lakesides, forests, and open fields. As players journey through Britannia, the world feels vibrant and alive at every turn.

One feature that further brings the world to life is the variety of movement options available. In addition to familiar open-world traversal methods, such as walking, sprinting, climbing, riding mounts, and gliding, players can also take to the skies and fly.

What adds an extra layer of depth is that these mounts, used for gliding, riding, and flying, are categorized as “pets.” Many of them can be obtained by capturing animals roaming the field, enhancing both the sense of collection and the joy of exploration.

Each character in the game features not only combat abilities but also adventure skills designed specifically for exploration. Some of these skills are particularly useful for traversal. For example, Tioreh can summon a tree trunk to launch herself high into the air, allowing players to reach areas that would otherwise be difficult to access.

These diverse movement options not only improve overall convenience but also make exploration more rewarding, encouraging players to fully explore every corner of Britannia. As players explore Britannia, they’ll naturally encounter a wide range of battles. The game features a real-time party system, allowing players to form a team of four characters and switch between them seamlessly during combat.

Each character is equipped with three core abilities. The controls are intuitive and easy to learn, requiring no complex button inputs, making the gameplay accessible from the start.

One of the most engaging aspects of combat is the ability for a single character to wield multiple weapon types. As characters level up their mastery, they can equip up to three different weapons. While real-time weapon switching isn’t available during battle, each weapon alters the character’s attack animations and skill set, and in some cases, even changes their elemental attributes.

For example, Tristan, the game’s protagonist, primarily wields twin swords in「Four Knights of the Apocalypse」. In The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, Dual swords remain his default weapon, but as his mastery level increases, he can also use a longsword or an Axe.

With Dual swords, Tristan moves with speed and agility, while the longsword and axe offer a heavier, more powerful combat style. This system allows players to tailor their favorite characters to match their preferred playstyle, while also expanding the range of possible party compositions and making team-building more dynamic.

Another standout feature in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is ‘Combined attacks,’ a mechanic that allows two or more characters to unleash a powerful attack together. By factoring in character traits, weapon types, and synergies like Combined attacks, players can create more strategic and satisfying party combinations.

That wraps up our look at The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin following its official launch. Beyond the features highlighted above, the game also stands out for its strong mobile optimization and multiplayer content, both of which are relatively rare in a cross-platform open-world RPG. Overall, it delivers a polished and well-rounded experience.
