Introduction to Netmarble's Social Contribution Activities
Ever since its founding in 2000, Netmarble has been engaged in various social contributions based on its sincerity and consistent aim to do its part for the community. Careful focus was given to creating a healthy gaming culture and cultivating future talent prepared for the future, using our abilities and specialties.
The Netmarble Cultural Foundation was founded in 2018 to create even more valuable contributions in a wider and more involved manner. We have been working towards the public good through our "Creating the Culture," "Nurturing Future Leaders," and "Sharing the Joy" programs with the aim of improving future competitiveness through the expansion of cultural values- and we have been working to create a brighter future using our specialties in the industry.
The <Creating the Culture> program is centered around the openness and variety in gaming, and is active in making educational and leisure culture that everyone can enjoy. The "eFestival for Students with Disabilities," "Play Center," "Family Program," "Game Concert," and "Game in Life Exhibit" are representative programs.
Of these, the "eFestival for Students with Disabilities" event is where the Netmarble Cultural Foundation works in conjunction with government agencies, students with disabilities, other classmates, and their parents to enjoy video games. We help students with disabilities by enhancing their self-confidence and sense of accomplishment through hosting and awarding esports competitions.
The "Game in Life Exhibit" is an exhibition of essays/photography/videos/webtoons and more where we show off submissions that describe how games have changed lives with the aim of strengthening the public interest in gaming culture. The 1st exhibit opened in 2020, and the winning pieces will be displayed online and remade as secondary creative works to promote a healthy gaming culture.
The <Nurturing Future Leaders> program provides young minds that will drive the future of the industry with education and experience so that they can build their own careers through various opportunities. "Game Academy," "Field Trip Program," and "Rowing Team with Disabilities" are such examples.
The "Game Academy" is a program that supports adolescents that wish to be part of the gaming industry by offering education to increase their required knowledge and development abilities. It also offers an opportunity for students to display their completed games that were created within the game development studio for the program while being led by professional instructors and mentors in an exhibition. Students who have submitted outstanding programs through the comprehensive program could also have their work added to the Google Play Store. Game Academy Student Developed Game Link
The "Rowing Team with Disabilities" continues to discover and foster athletes and contributes toward promoting sports for athletes with disabilities. Currently, the rowing team is under intensive training under the hot summer sun so they may reach their goals, and they have been honing their skills by participating in the Paralympics and other international competitions. In 2019, the team won the gold medal at the Asian Rowing Championships.
The <Sharing the Joy> program is sharing the joy of playing games with society at large by creating events where various people of interest can develop or support development.
The "Companion Series" is an endeavor to publish picture books to promote proper understanding and consideration regarding diversity, and it has been continuously spreading the message of respect through exhibitions and conferences. All proceeds are used to support publications and other educational/social service institutions to continue to act on the worth of sharing the wealth.
"Opportunities for Volunteer & Charity Work" is a body where executives and employees contribute to the betterment of the community through regular donations, community service, talent sharing, bazaars, auctions, and more. The donation committee in particular, which is made up of current executives and employees, continues to make the donations transparent so that it may better reflect the opinions of the committee and allow it to be more active in working towards the public good.
In other areas, we are preparing to construct the "Gaming Museum" that will highlight the history and value of games in Seoul, Guro-gu, and we plan to expand other educational and leisure activities for local communities.
We hope you take an interest in and support Netmarble's path that has remained consistent since its founding, and we will continue to show our dedication through future programs.
